The MSc program emphasizes both courses and doing research; one candidate must complete two necessary aspects of training before it takes an oral defense for his(/her) degree: He must earn a certain number of credits from taking courses, and meanwhile he is also required to undertake a project towards his thesis under supervision of his advisor. For more information, please referee to related documents from the website of the graduate school of DUT.
The PhD program is much more research-oriented and the candidate is requested to conduct a research project independently with a targeted research theme under supervision of his advisor, although necessary courses are also needed. All candidates who are interested in our PhD program are cordially welcome to visit the academic staff page to choose your favorite research areas. However, it should be aware that the university has set up a series of strict quantitative criteria for a PhD degree, such as course credits, scientific papers, and dissertation, to ensure the quality of each doctorate matching with the name of DUT. Only candidates qualified for these criteria can enter into the last stage, an oral defense, in which the candidate presents his work and answer questions raised by no fewer than examiners. Usually, the PhD study will last 4-6 years. For more information, please referee to related documents from the website of the graduate school of DUT.
